Aaron’s artist statement: “The western landscape is defined by huge skies, expanse reaching all the way to the horizon, and light that can take one’s breath away. I hope that my paintings convey the serene beauty of these open spaces, what it feels like to stand out on the open plains. There is a powerful stillness here that penetrates through the distraction of stressful activity, a beauty that demands pause. These images are iconic of the West.”
Jenny’s artist statement: “When I paint, standing outside in the open plains of Wyoming, I am surrounded by the huge skies, powerful light, and expanse that reaches all the way to the horizon. These spaces have a penetrating stillness the cuts through the distraction of stressful activity, a beauty that demands pause. These images are of the iconic West.
I intend my large-scale paintings to envelope the viewer, making them an active participant in what it feels like to stand in these open spaces. My open-ended process of painting is tethered to modernism allowing you to see how the painting is made: brush stroke, color, form, composition, canvas. By being a story tied to how the eye sees, the viewer becomes part of the journey of looking.”
